Swine Flu Astrology

How Astrology can be used to explain the peaks in reported cases of Swine Flu.

As stated in the Wikipedia page, 2009 flu pandemic, “The outbreak was first detected in Mexico City on March 18, 2009″. So this is the best place to start for an horoscope for the swine flu pandemic. The most obvious astrological factor astrologers point to is the triple conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune; 27 May, 10 July and 21 December 2009. This does very well describe a pandemic. Jupiter being expansive growth and foreign travel, Neptune being infection, confusion and anxiety. Although this horoscope for the initial outbreak shows that Jupiter and Neptune are nearly 9 degrees apart, we know that these conjunctions will all have occured within the life of this pandemic.

Even though the time is unknown of the first detection, that day there was a 3/4 moon, at 12:48pm in Mexico City. So Sun square moon is the strongest aspect in this chart. Then there is Merucury opposite retrograde Saturn, that also looks important with mercury ruling the respiratory system and Saturn representing restriction. Venus is also important in medical astrology as she rules the throat and the thymus gland, which is critical in the body’s immune response. The thymus produces T-lymphocytes which attack invading viruses. Venus is retrograde and on a star called Alderamin, the brightest star in the constellation Cepheus which is associated with events that affect large portions of mankind.

Mars sextile Pluto gives energy to last the distance, making this thing hard to control. It is in control. Pluto and Lilith are both on stars in the constellation of Sagittarius, which in Mundane astrology indicates events pertaining to “a large portion of mankind.” Lilith is also tightly quincunx the South Lunar Node which is on the fixed star Asellus borealis. When looking at fixed stars for the Lunar Nodes, the Sun and Moon interpreations are combined. This reads as pains the head, violent fevers, inflammatory ailments and heart weakness.

The H1N1 live map has an interactive graph at the top of the page which shows two distinct peaks in the number of reported cases (the blue line). The dates for these are 15 May and 05 July. The comparison charts below is for the first peak on 15 May.
The southern hemisphere is copping the worst of this pandemic at the moment, with the first two of the triple conjunctions occuring in the southern hemisphere winter and flu season. The link I gave earlier to the graph also has a map showing countries worst hit, all in the southern hemisphere.

Although this is a noon chart, the Moon still did oppose that first charts south node on the feverish star. The Sun is tightly square the infectious Neptune. Venus has turned direct and is just over one degree from conjuncting it’s initial position. In the first chart, Jupiter is quincunx Saturn. Now transiting Mars turns this into Yod configuration, the reaction point being Mercury. Earlier i mentioned Mercury ruling the respiratory system. In this case with it being so prominent, it’s rulership of communication and local travel is very interesting as it is this close contact, touching and coughing on each other which is how this virus spreads.

For this first peak in cases, Jupiter has conjuncted the outbreak Neptune by less than one degree. Now the long distance travel has come into play. This date of 15 May is only 12 days before the first of the Jupiter Neptune conjunctions.

Below is the comparison chart for the second peak in reported cases. Wereas the Moon in the first peak was on the outbreak North Node, here she is back at it own starting position, again squaring the outbreak Sun. The transiting Sun is now square that most important retrograde Venus, and Mercury opposes the outbreak Pluto by less than a degree. In the first peak, the Sun squared Neptune, now it is transiting Mars in that same position, tightly squaring the worrying Neptune. For this second peak in reported swine flu cases, Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron are all tightly conjunct and retrograde, this second peak coming only 5 days before the second the Jupiter Neptune conjunctions. Can we expect another big peak in cases around the time of the third and final conjunction?
