Lilith, Persephone and Rulership of Libra
I have spent a good few months now researching the astrology of Lilith. As I have already mentioned there are three Liliths and together they work as a trilogy.
Wikipedia defines them as thus:
Black Moon Lilith
“The moon’s hypothetical apogee point (the point at which it is furthest in its orbit from the Earth), is known as “Black Moon” Lilith. It is said to signify instinctive and emotional intelligence in astrological charts.”
Dark Moon Lilith
“Lilith is the name given to a hypothetical second moon of Earth, about the same mass as the Earth’s Moon, proposed by astrologer Walter Gornold (Sepharial) in 1918. Gornold claimed that Lilith was the same second moon that scientist Georg Waltemath claimed to have discovered at the turn of the century”
Asteroid Lilith
“The asteroid 1181 Lilith is a main belt asteroid discovered February 11, 1927 by Benjamin Jekhowsky.”
Lilith Stereotype
There is a wealth of info recounting the bible story of Lilith on the net so I don’t to want repeat what’s already been said. In a nut shell, Lilith features in one of the bibles creation stories as Adams first wife who did no want to be “below him” either in the sexual act or in everyday life, so she was cast out or exiled herself out of paradise as a result.
What I want to do is explore her contemporary meaning, untainted by religious dogma, suspicion and fear that this archetype has generated in us.
But 1st I will give a general overview of the stereotype image of her I have found all over the net:
She is all about sex. A femme fatale. The bunny boiler. She is the mistress, the hooker and a nymphomaniac. She is a witch, can mesmerize and spellbound us into being her slave. She is the baby eater, will steal your babies as they sleep. She is wild, aggressive and licentious. She cannot be tamed. She can pull you into the pit of drug hell with her tempting forbidden fruit. She is a raging man hater, a she-devil, she will not submit to authority. She is a rebel and anarchist. But most of all she is the anti-mother.
Many of the chart interps of her suggest she corrupts any planet she comes into contact with. Brings out the negative traits out of the sign she falls into. And brings danger and chaos into the house she is found.
All this is rather like saying Saturn is only ever restrictive, heavy, depressing and malefic. But we know saturn can bring stability, crystalizes, makes things manifest into reality, and makes us stronger with good hard work.
Our Linear Life.
Our fear of Lilith stems from the change of viewing the world in a cyclical way to seeing it in a linear way.
Before the introduction of monotheism and the one all powerful masculine god. There was a pantheon of Gods both male and female. A rich array of archetypes that described a multifaceted existance. And most importantly a belief in reincarnation which showed that after death there was rebirth and an opportunity for evolution through regeneration.
This is reflected in nature through the seasons where during winter the plants appear to “die”, shed their old skin, and in that compost the seeds of the new self take sustenance in preparation for growth to follow in the spring.
Making life linear totally removes nature from the equation. What we get then is ONE life, one chance to consume all you can, make yourself immortal by conquering and making your mark on as much space and people around you as you can, before the inevitable death knell. Death is feared because it is so final, it is the end, and the end of you, period.

Triple Moon Goddess, Triple Lilith.
It is this concept that has warped our notion of death and the darkness. Time spent underground, or in a dark place, plagues us with notions of scary demons and the threat of hell because none of us, if we have lived a human life cannot be sure we haven’t transgressed gods law at least a few times…
The Moon is our triple Goddess. She is the primary expression of feminine energy astrologically. She is the Virgin crescent, the spring maiden, fertile and nubile. Then she is the pregnant full moon, the mother, the summer harvest. But then she becomes the dark moon, the aged crone, barren, shrivelled, used up and very, very dead.
This dark moon is where the frightening old witch comes into it. Of course this is a dark time, and we know deep down this is where the strongest magic is, but we fear it. In the darkness we cannot see. We HAVE to rely on our intuition. In this modern world, where we are so removed from the magic of the earth, most of us have lost touch with it. But it is coming back, and the three Liliths are it’s new agents.
Thanks to some great work by Demetria George, Kelly Hunter and many others, much headway has been made on the road to reclaiming Lilith. There seems to be an upsurge in interest and thanks to Astro.com it is now very easy to place Lilith into your chart. This has fueled the hunger for clarifying what EXACTLY does she stand for? The stereotype above, tho negative, could even be empowering for women.
But it terrifies the hell out of most men.
If we take the Black Moon aspect as the starting point rather than the biblical myth, we can see a purer expression of Lilith’s energy.
The Dark Moon phase rules intuition, creativity, magic, divination, tantric sex, shamanism, herbalism, healing and the occult.
In the dark there is No-thing. Your mind is clear to access your own unconscious and the collective consciousness. It is the place you can recharge your batteries and empower yourself. It is YOU time.
It is a cleansing and purging ritual. Women naturally go through this every month just before and during their periods. Tho in this rush-rush world of commerce, neither sex really has the luxury of taking time out to do this on a regular basis.
So what happens? You cannot beat nature, it has a funny habit of correcting itself, therefore you may get a Dark Moon thrust upon you by illness or depression. This can also be self inflicted through drugs or drink.
Confronting Demons.
In a Dark moon phase you will have to confront your demons, you will have to feel exiled. It’s resting time for the soul. But nature abhors a vacuum. Eventually, when you are ready, you will come out of it refreshed and regenerated.
So how to we read Lilith in the chart? We are all still all in the process of digesting this newly retrieved ancient wisdom. Remember 9 million witches were burnt because they had this knowledge. There are still wounds that are healing in the collective unconscious from this. Lilith is still very raw in our psyche. So therefore having a strong Lilith in your chart means you have to recognise that in hard aspect she can be pretty feirce and vengeful. The challenge is then to channel that energy creatively. A dammed up Lilith can be hell on earth.
Another thing that fascinates me is why an hyperthetical body has captured the imagination of the public in such a way that it is the next “planetary” body down from Chiron in the list of additional bodies on Astro.com. Placed even above the 4 major new asteroids Pallas Athena, Vesta, Ceres and Juno.
For me, as a woman with a feminist bent, I should be using these four Goddess’s in order to redress the balance of masculine to feminine in the chart. Instead I find the use of the 3 Liliths sits more comfortably with me.
Together I find them a more formidable force, and fills the astrological gap for a strongly sexual, magical and creative woman who is more than just a mother (The Moon) or a just a wife (Venus)I also think that a planetary body honoured with rulership over a sign gives it more weight. It has been suggested that rulership of Libra would go to the next planet discovered after Pluto, which many presumed to be Persephone. But since Persephone is already a small asteroid, the 10th Planet or dwarf planet was named Xena, then disappointingly Eris. The chance of her being promoted as Libra’s rightful ruler is further compounded by Pluto being demoted.
Goddess As Outer Planet.
It’s almost like there is some resistance to the possiblity that an outer planet could be a goddess rather than a god. I know some will say Neptune is feminine. Well hey, the last time I looked at Neptune, he definately had a beard…tho possible not a thingy since he sometimes has a fishes tail…but I digress!
Psychologically having a Goddess recognized as outer planet OR given rulership of a sign says something quite profound to our collective psyche. This has not happened. No dwarf planets are allowed to be seen as full status planets now that Pluto is no more. Despite Eris clearly having a moon.
So that only leaves Lilith as possible contender for the Persephone archetype, which she does fit with very well. Lilith as ruler for Libra? Yes!! She is all about fighting for justice and equality. Equal partnerships between the sexes. It puts focus on these qualities rather than the psycho sex-witch image she has been lumbered with. Unlike Pallas Athena, Lilith does not want to have to masculinize herself to gain equality or respect. She wants to be seen as sexual, powerful AND still very much a woman.
So if a Moon can rule Cancer, then why can’t a black Moon rule Libra?
Asteroid Lilith’s Discovery Chart.
As two of the Liliths are hypothetical . The only discovery chart we have is the one for Asteroid Lilith. From this maybe we can see something. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the time or place. Aspects are 1 degs and under.
Sun quintile Ceres. Creative cultivation of the earth. Sun square Pallas Athena. Men being challenged by female warriors.Venus trined Vesta. Fertile women uniting with childless women. Venus squared Ceres. Lovers being challenged by motherhood. Mars squared Neptune. Men being challenged by mysticism. Mars quintile Asteroid Lilith. Creative sexuality through liberation. Chiron quincunx Black Moon Lilith. Sexual healing. Magical Maverick. Jupiter squared Saturn. Justice and freedom challenged by patriarchy. Saturn trine Asteroid Lilith. Bringing Lilith into concrete form. Uranus opposed Black Moon Lilith. Shocking sexuality and deviant behavior. Black Moon Lilith quintile Ceres. Creative earth magic. Herbalism. Ceres trine Juno. Combining motherhood successfully with partnership.Pallas sextile Dark Moon Lilith. Fighting and successfully purging your inner demons.
I always saw Asteroid Lilith as feminist Lilith, and here she is clearly reflecting that. But she also blends it with sexuality, magic and all the dark moon phase aspects mentioned.
I see her as the mediator of the Liliths. And binds them altogether. Maybe because she is the only concrete form of Lilith she works in a very earthy way. Manifesting the magic, and making physical the sexuality of the mysterious Black moon. Creating alchemic gold out of the demons buried in the ghostly cellar of the Dark moon.
The Future Of The Lilith/Persephone/Eris Archetype.
Lilith maybe the lower octave of Eris, who right now is just too freshly discovered for us to grasp on a worldly level. She still needs to be absorbed into global consciousness.
From the 1990′s a plethora of new bodies have be discovered, The Asteroid Goddesses The Centaurs and the Plutonoids. Our Solar system has expanded rapidly in a relatively small number of years. If as above, so below then will our minds expand too?. Demetria George on a recent Goddess Podcast by Gary Caton likened it to our brains using only small amount of their capacity. These new discoveries filling in the gaps.
In 2011 the Pluto/Uranus square will hit us. I wonder what that means for Astrology?
Could a battle between the God of Astrology and the God of the Underworld, force Pluto into letting Persephone come and go as she pleases? She would then be free to accept rulership of Libra along side Pluto’s Scorpionic domain. That way they can sit side by side on the Via Combusta, equal in status.
By 2015, maybe that burning way will be a little less like flaming terror, and more like a far less threatening, cosy autumn bonfire.

ROCK AND ROLL MARINA.
All extremely interesting questions- I’d never considered the resistance to an outer planet named after a goddess. I wouldn’t expect much else from the scientific community, but it’s interesting that many astrologers and astrology buffs haven’t really mentioned that.
It’s interesting also to consider the heft that Lilith would give Libra in terms of its usual reputation- it’s focused on relationships and equality, yes, but it tends to have this tinge of superficiality, as opposed to Scorpio. A Lilith rulership would definitely add weight to the equality element of Libra, and take away some of the fluffiness I think we’ve come to associate with it. (Because of its Venus rulership? Who knows.)
Although Persephone ruling Libra would have made a whole lot of sense too, what with the balancing of roles and such.
Fun stuff for those of us who already sidle up to flaming terror like it’s a cozy autumn bonfire.
I second Lucy’s rock and roll! Excellent job
, and I absolutely LOVE your illustrations. So inspiring!
Hi Lucy.
I just been googling trans-pluto and there are quite a few people out there who feel the same way about the Libra rulership question regarding Persephone.
Venus is an odd one because in Taurus I see her as Venus/Ceres, very much more fertile and baby sex, but in Libra she is defo very Geisha girl, sex for pleasure which is more Venus/Lilith.
Persephone is one of many archetypes Demetria George mentions for the dark moon phase along with ofcourse Lilith, Hekate, Kali, Nyx etc, etc. So they are really all the same archetype.
Libra’s have the impression of being fluffy yes. But then there’s Margaret Thatcher….
And I just love the concept of the burning way! Funny it falls between the signs that are associated with sex and relationship.
Thanks Deb. Nice to get appreciation for my scribbles too:)
Very thought-provoking. Thank you! I think MUCH work needs to be done on the asteroids, et al. My take is that many of these are going to turn out to be “particles” of a collective whole. In other words, there’s no ONE ruler for each sign; in fact there may be several — and in each chart one may be more dominant than another. What makes one dominant over the other? Maybe tight aspects or position. Not too sure. But definitely both Lilith and Persephone are strong Lunar archetypes, though I think Lilith also has undertones of Pluto/Scorpio to it. Persephone (and possibly Proserpina) seem to have a more Venusian flavor to them. Could be Libran, could be Taurean.Hard to tell. I lean more towards the latter than the former. Libra is a strategist. She would have tried to escape rather than waiting for mother in my opinion. Taurus, on the other hand, is more inclined to settle. And then, of course, there’s that pomegranate seed thing…
Anyway, all very fascinating and all requiring much more research. Much thanks for the food for thought!
I am a Libra sun (4th house) with Lilith conjunct my MH – and Orcus conjunct my AC.
I am very interested in evolution, and I am anti-dogma, including within astrology. So as these new planetary bodies are discovered and given associations & interpretations from non-western spiritual systems, sometimes the meanings overlap with the western systems. That is a subject beyond this reply… (Orcus is similar to Pluto: for more info: http://www.thegreenduck.com/ka/NewPlanets/Orcus.shtml)
But regarding Lilith, I very much do NOT see her as “anti-mother”. She is BEYOND mother, but INCLUSIVE of mothers.
One of the reasons that I see the patriarchy becoming dominant these past 4,000 years, and the women demoted (including in the Bible) and burnt as witches, is because of their sole power of childbearing – and their knowledge of plants & natural healing, common to any local midwife – often based on intuitive, non-logical knowledge, gleaned from Nature, Mother Earth, the main (unconscious) reasons they were destroyed by the MEN…
Regarding my own life, I am a mother of a daughter, and was a single mom for years. Motherhood via natural birth and nursing a child with awareness & psychic connection are amazing human acts that men cannot do, and thus demote. In my view Lilith elevates all aspects of womanhood, but does not become DEFINED by any of them…
Hi Donna,
Yes more research does have to be done! Regarding Persephone, at one time I believe she was Queen Of The Underworld, and the whole abduction myth was symbolic of the time when Patriarchy demoted women in general. Demetria George suggested this when she said in her book “The Dark Moon” many of the Dark Moon Goddesses symbolism became warped under this.
Yes Lilith does have a Pluto vibe and Persephone is connected to Pluto too. Then Persephone did come to the compromise of dividing her time between the underworld and the earth, which goes very well with Eris’s elliptic orbit where she is goes way out of the solar system and then comes in as far as Neptune.
This is a great article on trans-pluto that I found after I wrote this and was amazed that we hit on similar themes.
The Future of the 21st Century – Percephone and Divine Mother Energy
Hi Lisa,
No I don’t see Lilith as Anti-Mother at all. That’s just what came across from what I found on the net. That whole Virgin mother/whore problem that results from putting women into boxes.
That’s why the narrow choice of Moon & Venus is so restricting.
I am a single mum too. I love the comment that “Lilith elevates all aspects of womanhood, but does not become defined by them.”
We really do need a super dooper Divine Goddess outer planet to reflect that.
This article floors me in the most wonderful of ways. Way to weave together research, your own ideas theories discoveries, and then to fuse elements of what is existing to make information pertinent in ways that it never quite has been before. I love your willingness to explore. It’s pretty amazing to see that which I have seen you write about before (virgo and chiron, the liliths) and then now Lilith and Libra! The case you present feels strong to me.. I’m just thrilled to see innovation continuing in astrology. So cool!
“Making life linear totally removes nature from the equation.” –YES
” The Dark Moon phase rules intuition, creativity, magic, divination, tantric sex, shamanism, herbalism, healing and the occult.” —–Beautiful! Yes. As I study transpersonal psychology in my schooling, I’m learning that these elements, the feminine, the soul, they are still under explored, less recognized, less valued then those elements of the masculine, spirit, and ascension. I love that you’re plunging forth in calling attention to this in the astrological community.
” It is a cleansing and purging ritual. Women naturally go through this every month just before and during their periods. … You cannot beat nature, it has a funny habit of correcting itself, therefore you may get a Dark Moon thrust upon you by illness or depression. This can also be self inflicted through drugs or drink.”
—-Absolutely. As a woman, I feel very little time and space in life to take care of my own regenerative death and rebirth cycles. Society is go go go, don’t take time out for yourself, produce faster without having to take breaks, don’t show weakness, etc. If we do not respect nature, the natural cycles of our bodies, well.. we can’t truly suppress and repress nature and the feminine.. they will show up some way or another.
“In a Dark moon phase you will have to confront your demons, you will have to feel exiled. It’s resting time for the soul. But nature abhors a vacuum. Eventually, when you are ready, you will come out of it refreshed and regenerated.”
— Thank you for the reminder. And it’s so true.. I just asked myself how long the Dark Moon phase lasts. I then answered myself by saying, you can’t ever really know, that can’t be determined, but the less resistence, the better because the more you resist, the longer it’ll take for you to make it through.
“There are still wounds that are healing in the collective unconscious from this. Lilith is still very raw in our psyche. So therefore having a strong Lilith in your chart means you have to recognise that in hard aspect she can be pretty feirce and vengeful. The challenge is then to channel that energy creatively. A dammed up Lilith can be hell on earth.” —right on
“Psychologically having a Goddess recognized as outer planet OR given rulership of a sign says something quite profound to our collective psyche. This has not happened.” —-Agreed!
“Lilith as ruler for Libra? Yes!! She is all about fighting for justice and equality. Equal partnerships between the sexes. It puts focus on these qualities rather than the psycho sex-witch image she has been lumbered with. ”
—- How fascinating. It certainly fits. I would have to restructure Venus being Aphrodite and being linked with Libra. I connect those three. But perhaps there is something more to Aphrodite even… Oh. I also wonder about how with Libra, I feel like sometimes that energy is kind of androgynous. At least, I remember reading about this in Liz Greene’s Relating book I believe. I’ll hafta double check this and look into it more for myself. I really love your explorations here though.
Really really really great stuff here, Marina. Thank you for writing, for sharing, for exploring and researching, and for following your own Self and calling.
Just for kicks, because I’d never actually done it before, I plugged Proserpina into my natal chart. Mine is at 4+ Scorpio- conjunct my Pluto at 1+ Scorpio. Freaky? (Like I didn’t already identify enough with the Persephone myth.)
Clair I’m totally blown away by your response! That’s wonderfully encouraging for me.
I have Black Moon Lilith conjunct Mars in the 10th house of career so I feel like it is my mission to bring the whole Lilith archetype into public consciousness.
I have Asteroid Lilith as part of a grand trine to Chiron and Neptune. So there’s the feminist element combined with the healing of spiritual wounds.
One day I’m going to write a Lilith book. This Blog is like my research lab.
Thanks so much for your input.
Hi Lucy,
I just did the same and found Proserpina is in my 6th house of work sextile my moon (30′), sextile MC (16′) and quintile my BML/Mars(42′) conjunction in the 10th house of career.
Could it have something to do with my work and life’s calling perhaps?
Wow, yours is conjunct Pluto Lord of The Underworld himself eh? When ya getting married;) And right in the burning way …I just realized my Vertex is there too. Freaky!!!
Fires are your friend;)
Hi Marina: Thank you so much for your quick and clear response. I guess I was so triggered by seeing the anti-mother in the text, that I didn’t register the stereotype you were moving away from. Perhaps my very emotional day yesterday, that last day of Scorpio with Pluto sitting right on my moon, reinforces just how: “Lilith is still very raw in our psyche.”
I have long felt that Venus isn’t the main ruler of Libra and another would come along. Believing primarily in evolution within the spiritual as well as physical worlds (as they are not really separate), these new transneptunian planetary bodies are part of that process. And with Sedna and Haumea both named after non-western Goddesses, it helped balance (for me) the choice of Eris as a symbol. But Eris is definitely not the ruler of Libra!
As there are several levels of expression of every sign and planet, and the element of changing time and environment (global and/or personal) is part of that, your work is an awesome part of that emergence. But I have also read about Capricorn associated with Lilith… and with my own moon there, of course that triggered interest that I haven’t had a chance to pursue.
The main question I have is the two aspects of Lilith, the lunar nodal and the asteroid, and how to differentiate the meanings in one’s chart. I finally figured out how to find the asteroid Lilith, and found that it opposes (by 4 degrees) my Black Moon Lilith, conjunct my IC in Virgo, whereas Lunar Lilith is one degree from my MC in Pisces. The balance manifesting in yet another form…
Moreover, Lunar Lilith is part of a grand trine with Ceres and Venus – and Asteroid Lilith the midpoint between Uranus & Jupiter, square my Saturn, but trine Pallas… very different energies… and I am not too clear about the difference in interpretation between these two bodies. Do you have any suggestions for information towards clarification of this?
Also, thanks for the link to Kelley Hunter’s article. Written 10 years ago, it is still so very current –
Cool! My Prosperina is at 29 degrees Pisces.. conjunct my Lilith at 0 degrees Aries. Both reside in my 6th house.
I have tenth house full of asteroids. Vesta, Pallas, Hygiea and Juno all close together in Pisces. My main theme is to be of service. My “male” energy or persona is often confused with something else. Women have mixed me up with their own issues around certain male types of behaviour only to find another side of me. I have been misunderstood however that seems to be the Asteroidic life.

Lillith always get a stir on the web stats. I like to say the story of Lillith is the cautionary tale of the “bad” things that happen to women when they fail to fill roles laid down by a patriarchal society.
Pluto and Proserpina conjunct in Scorpio fall at the very end of my 5th House. When am I getting married indeed.
Your Black Moon Lilith-Mars in the 10th House makes a lot of sense, actually. Aside from Kelley Hunter, you seem to be the most visible astrologer doing work with Lilith (that I’m aware of, anyway)- so I think when a lot of us imagine Lilith, they put your face on her. (Which is not to say that you’re a demon! Or a baby-eater! You embody dark female mystique well, that’s all.)
Beth’s right- all my search engine terms for Lilith include stuff like “shame,” “bad woman,” “killing.” ENOUGH OF THAT TIRED OLD TROPE ALREADY.
I have true Black Moon Lilith R in 5’42 Scorpio conjunct my Sun in 5’20 Scorpio, and I believe in equality of the sexes as a male. I have strong feminine traits. I believe in equality period. my Sun is in a cazimi with the plutino dwarf planet candidate,Ixion in 5’25 Scorpio. That’s like having Sun conjunct Pluto. I also have Sun oppose/conjunct heliocentric Nodes in 5’30 Taurus/Scorpio (also oppose geocentric North Eris Node in 5’30 Taurus and conjunct geocentric South Eris Node in 5’29 Scorpio. Scorpio is my 3rd house, and so it has to do communications, thought processes.
I have asteroids conjunct my Sun within 1 degree:
Athor in 6’15 Scorpio – Egyptian Goddess of Love,Fertility
Ariadne in 5’03 Scorpio – the Cretan Princess that assisted Theseus in killing the Minotaur, abandoned by him, married Dionysus, the God of Wine
Aurora in 4’27 Scorpio – Roman Goddess of the Dawn
Iphigenia in 4’44 Scorpio – Daughter of King Agamemnon and Queen Clytemnestra, sacrificed for fair winds to Troy
Serquet in 4’44 Scorpio – Egyptian Scorpion Goddess
My Eris is in 12’15 Aries in 8th sextile/trine Midheaven/Imum Coeli Axis in 11’14 Gemini/Sagittarius, sextile/trine Lunar Nodes in 10’30 Aquarius/Leo in 6th/12th (Midheaven square Eris/Node midpoint with 8 minutes of arc ) as well as trine Ceres in 13’57 Leo in 12th,quincunx Haumea in 11’16 Virgo in 1st as well as biquintile Mercury in Scorpio with 6 minutes of arc.
In declination,Eris parallel Mars and contraparallel Pluto.
In Right Ascension,
Eris semisquare both Moon and Saturn which are in square (Eris conjunct Moon/Saturn midpoint), conjunct Mars/Midheaven midpoint, and oppose Sun/Pluto midpoint. I also have Mercury conjunct Eris/Midheaven midpoint.
I believe that all of that has to do with my being an equality-oriented type of person. I also believe that fits with being a minority in general and being a divergent person whether it’s being multiracial, part black person in USA, being neuro-divergent,or not fitting the traditional male stereotypes.
I have the following minor planets conjunct Eris R in 12’14 in Aries
Africa in 11’15 Aries R in 8th
Africano in 12’38 Aries R in 8th
Chiron in 10’32 Aries R in 8th
there were other versions of Lilith …….there are the Persian she-demon,Druj. Some Russian astrologers refer to the mean Black Moon as Lilith and the true Black Moon as Druj.
Lilith (Hebrew: ?????? L?l?t; Arabic: ?????? L?l??) is a female Mesopotamian storm demon associated with wind and was thought to be a bearer of disease, illness, and death. The figure of Lilith first appeared in a class of wind and storm demons or spirits as Lilitu, in Sumer, circa 4000 BC. Many scholars place the origin of the phonetic name “Lilith” at somewhere around 700 BC despite post-dating even to the time of Moses.[1] Lilith appears as a night demon in Jewish lore and as a screech owl in Isaiah 34:14 in the King James version of the Bible. In later folklore, “Lilith” is the name for Adam’s first wife.

It seems that the Lilith mythology originated in Mesopotamian mytholog.
Serquet in 4?44 Scorpio – Egyptian Scorpion Goddess

Kingsley.
Not surprising you have all those Goddesses in your tenth. Where is your Eris? I think she is defo misunderstood, by myself even. I’m looking deeper into her now.
I think Lilith works like some sort of messenger for me. She kicked me into this journey to the dark side and has also taken me out to Hades to look at the Plutinoids.
Liz Z.
Have you looked into Eris? I really didn’t think she was much cop until I found stuff that really resonated with Libra and the 7th house for me:
Zane Stein has written extensively about her. All very Persephone influenced.
Zane Stein’s Keywords for Eris:
Loss of innocence, entrance into adulthood; child’s trauma being separated from parent; acceptance of unavoidable changes; dying and being reborn (as opposed to Pluto which rules the causes/processes of death and rebirth); internal split causing longing to be whole, the longing of the soul for its other half; the subject/object of a debate, argument, competition, conflict or war…what stirs people to fight or disagree; fighting for one’s rights; strife and discord; pitting one side against the other; competition, contests and tournaments; struggles for supremacy; rivalry; a test of skills or abilities; love of fighting or debate; what one has at stake in a competition, dispute or conflict, or one’s perspective of what is being fought over; refusing to relinquish one’s hold on an ideal, belief, cause, or object…’not budging an inch’; the problems resulting from irreconcilable differences; contrasting different perspectives; comparing thesis and antithesis in the search for truth; contrasting opposing viewpoints to reveal each side more clearly, to seek similarities as well as differences; contrasting logical thought processes to show the limitations of logic; identifying with, or trying to understand, first principles; incongruous juxtapositions to force one to think outside of the box; the ethics connected with one’s motives and methods, and the coming to light of less than spotless methods; the roots of one’s motivations; piracy, defrauding, swindling; society’s ethics; race intent.
Lucy and Beth!
Oh yes, I’m so tired of Liliths bad rap. And now poor old Eris gets the same rough deal.
She didn’t get an invite to Peleus and Thetis’s wedding because she was a trouble maker, but Mars does?! How unfair is that?
I think it is also interesting that her symbol is the Apple of discord. Who else was supposedly the forbidden fruit? Apples are associated with witches too.
The Lilith/Persephone/Eris story continues….
Hi Marina,
Excellent article! and thanks for the shout-out
I do believe that a Revolution is happening in Astrology. The plethora of new bodies, many of them Goddesses, represents a diverse cultural soup which has no choice but to coalesce into something New. A new Order always arises from this kind of chaos. Thanks for doing your part to stir it!
Hi Gary,
Feelings mutual!
It’s great that Podcasts like yours are giving these Goddess a voice.
I enjoyed your interview on Adam Sommer too. Another fab Podcaster.
I had a bit of a rough ride on some of the more conventional forums with this. But the people who’s opinions matter to me are giving good feedback and it’s very encouraging.
Erithian times indeed:)))
(…) though unrelated to this website, still funkastrology.co.uk is one another nice source of information on this issue(…)
Very useful article. I thought to let you know that you website wasn’tt getting displayed properly on thunderhawk browser on my pda.
Have a nice time…sorry for typos
Hi Marina–
Thank you for your information on Eris. It is now obvious to me that the info I had on Eris was the traditional patriarchal focus on strife & discord rather than the broader view.
Still, the harmonics of synergy (beyond synthesis) in resolution of differences is my current key for the Libra energy… NOT the focus on thesis vs. antithesis or exclusively using logical thought processes (left brain), but seeing the inner harmony that is always present, using both intuition and mental thought – including that right brain with the Air signs…
I personally wonder about the goddess Themis, daughter of Gaia and Uranus, which translates to law of nature or divine law… she was an oracle at Delphi (often depicted as blindfolded for using her inner vision) … including associations with right partnership. So I just did another quick review and found this to share:
“Indeed Themis’ six children, the spring-time Horai and death-bringing Moirai, reflect the dual-functions of Demeter’s own daughter Persephone.” (from theoi.com)…
Like Gary wrote, new order does eventually arise out of chaos, and it seems we are all feeling the many changes…
With gratitude for this Forum for sharing & exchange!! And a Happy December to all!!
Raymond I just found this comment in the spam filter! This is great info and I didnt know about about the Russian Astrologers approach. As I am continuing my research on the Mean and the True differences this is very good to know. Will look into it. Thanks!
