Lunar Eclipse June 2010 Conjunct Pluto

lunar eclipse Lunar Eclipse June 2010 Conjunct PlutoThe Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) of 26 June 2010 is conjunct Pluto very closely by just 41 minutes. Astrologers have been very interested in this for a while because it is a trigger for the big T-square with Saturn opposite Uranus, both square Pluto. Major upheavals have been predicted including social and political unrest, more economic collapses, and more catastrophic earthquakes and volcanic activity. The chart for this Lunar Eclipse shows a powerful Grand Cross configuration which can be a sign of suffering but also of giving service to those in need.

Jupiter Conjunct Uranus we have discussed previously, and Saturn Opposite Uranus has also been covered. Marina looks at the chart as a whole HERE, so in this article I’m going to focus on the effect of an eclipse conjunct Pluto, the effect of the fixed star involved in this conjunction, and what it may mean for some national horoscopes.

Lunar Eclipse Conjunct Pluto

Eclipses mark a major focus in any chart for the following six months. Pluto at the personal level is about major changes which lead to soul evolution, major transformations. Something is created out of destruction. In mundane astrology Pluto effects global politics and economics, multinational corporations and organized crime. Genocide and massacres and the weapons of mass destruction such as nuclear weapons, it also rules the nuclear industry in general and genetic engineering. As God of the underworld Pluto is associated with mining, earthquakes and volcanos.

Below is a list of the six Lunar Eclipses in the last century which were conjunct or opposite Pluto. Unlike the upcoming Lunar Eclipse, none of these previous eclipses were involved in a Grand Cross and only the 1977 eclipse was involved in a T-square with Jupiter.

14 June 1908 Lunar Eclipse opposite Pluto (72′) . 16 days later the Tunguska event unleashed the equivalent of 1000 hiroshima bombs in Russia.
28 December 1917 Lunar Eclipse conjunct Pluto (99′). 22 days earlier the Halifax Explosion killed 2000 people in Canada. It was the largest man made explosion at that time.
11 February 1952 Lunar Eclipse conjunct Pluto (54′). 15 days later Winston Churchill announced that the UK had the atomic bomb.
04 April 1977 Lunar Eclipse conjunct Pluto (90′). The same day major flooding devastated the town of grundy in Virginia, USA, which is still recovering.
28 October 1985 Lunar Eclipse opposite Pluto (32′). 16 days later the Nevado del Ruiz volcano erupted killing more than 23,000 people in Colombia.
24 April 1986 Lunar Eclipse conjunt Pluto (119′). 2 days later the Chernobyl nuclear disaster killed over 4000 people in the Ukraine.

Lunar Eclipse conjunct Fixed Star Kaus Medius

This Lunar Eclipse is conjunct the fixed star Kaus Medius in constellation Sagittarius by two minutes. Pluto has been conjunct Kaus Medius this year during the Haiti earthquake, the Chile earthquake, the plane crash which killed the Polish president, the Qinghai earthquake, and the Iceland volcanic ash cloud eruption, all under one degree. Pluto will remain within this orb till 10 July, and then finally in direct motion from 14 November this year till 12 January 2011. The last time Pluto was conjunct Kaus Medius, in 1762, half a million Sikh’s were killed in the Great Holocaust in Indian Punjab.

The last time Uranus was conjunct Kaus Medius in 1989, Ruhollah Khomeini put a bounty on the head of Salman Rushdie, a geomagnetic storm shut down the Hydro-Quebec power grid leaving 6 million people without power for 9 hours, the Exon Valdez spilled 240,000 barrels of oil, the Hillborough disaster killed 96 Liverpool supporters, the Tiananmen Square massacre left 2,600 student dead, the Cold War officially ended, and 645 Russians died in the Ufa train disaster.

The previous conjunct of Uranus to Kaus Medius in 1905 saw a mine explosion in Courrieres which killed 1,060 French miners, the devastation of Naples by Mount Vesuvius, and a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in San Francisco which killed 3,000 people.

Munadane Astrology of Nations

The following a short list of some of the countries which will be effected by the upcoming Lunar Eclipse. I’m still collecting charts for other nations which we have in the menu bar under Mundane – Nations.

North Korea Military Parade

North Korea Military Parade

Greece – Lunar Eclipse square Moon (16′), opposite Venus (47′), square Pluto (13′). Mundane Astrology of Greece – Financial Crisis 2010

India – Lunar Eclipse conjunct Midheaven (49′) square Ascendant ( 54′). I’ve already written about the possibility of increased terrorism in the second half of this year in Mundane Astrology of India (and Cricket)

Iran – Lunar Eclipse square Ascendant (42′). Tension is again rising over nuclear activity, war games in the Gulf a couple of days ago, and the US redrawing militay plans for attack.

Israel – Lunar Eclipse opposite Venus (54′) conjunct Part of Fortune (10′). Discussed in Astrology of Israel for 2010.

North Korea – Lunar Eclipse sextile Mars (13′). North Korea Threatens “All Out War”

Taliban – Lunar Eclipse square Sun (28′) square Saturn (37′). Afghanistan War 2010, Taliban – USA Synastry

Thailand – Mundane Astrology of Thailand – Bangkok Riots 2010

USA – Lunar Eclipse square Midheaven (27′). More challenges for the president and how the country is viewed by the global community. This is based on the Sibley chart. Without using precession correction, the Eclipse is still opposite Venus so it’s a tough one either way.

Well that all very doom and gloom, happy Saturn opposite Uranus for today! Transiting Saturn was exactly on my Sun a few hours ago. This Lunar Eclipse chart is serious stuff and it is difficult not to see big trouble for the world coming up. Pluto is about evolution most of all so by next year hopefully our global community will have progressed in some humanitarian way.

    @Jamie Funk
Thank you Jamie, I have been working on it for 6 months :) I have only been seriously learning about astrology for abt 2 years now. I really look forward to hearing what you have to say. One thing I will tell you is I have been concerned about the eclipse on my jupiter to the degree as it occurs in my 8th house. It jumped at me so I was looking at people in my life. This has been a very transformational period (last 2 years) though difficult its been good. I was not surprised when my great uncle who is 87 took a turn for the worse as his progressed sun is abt 3* capricorn. He passed away yesturday. This said I know there is soooooo much more here and I want to be as prepared to work WITH the energies and not miss opportunities. I also want to be as prepared for difficult situations as there are 5 kids depending on ME to see to their needs.

    Thanks again, Tina

  1. We have now become aware that this eclipse is of concern to a great many of our readers. We also realize there is a demand for quick emergency readings in these challenging times.

In recognition of this need, we are now offering “One Question” readings. Details are on the Readings page on the menu tab.

Due to an increased work load, I’m afraid we can no longer answer questions specific to individual charts. Thank you all for the interest and support, it means a lot.

    Jamie,

Thanks for the insightful thoughts on this huge event that kicks off the T-square.

Would the Gulf oil disaster fall within the Orb of this eclipse? I think it all happened when Uranus (surprises) was transiting out of Pisces (Oil) into Aries. It all opposes Saturn – ‘long term solutions’. Maybe it was Uranus leaving his last calling card before moving on..The stock markets went nuts during this period too, wild swings daily.

Interestingly enough, this eclipse falls right on my natal Sun and trines my natal Pluto. No tremors yet, should there be? :D

    Kind regards from Brussels, Belgium

  2. Hey Phil, interesting question about the oil spill. I do believe eclipses may have some effect before hand, but ceratinly not as much as afterwards. I doubt this eclipse had effect on the actual explsion on the oil rig, but as this is an ongoing disaster, it may well have effect on how it progresses. I did have a look at the event chart for the rig explosion here: Deepwater Oil Spill. Saturn opposite Uranus was definitely critical. I did not link the stock market swings to this aspect, but your interpretation sounds very good.

Sounds like a very powerful time in your life coming up, and very positive. enjoy!

On another note, I was just reading BBC news, in the last couple of hours the authorities raided and sealed off the headquarters of the Catholic Church in Belgium. Perhaps another victim of Saturn opposite Uranus.

    @Jamie Funk
    Jamie,

If you want all the details on the stock markets and forecasts based on a very reputable financial astrologer, a very good source is Ray Merriman’s site; http://www.mmacycles.com/weekly-preview/mma-comments-for-the-week/
I have been following him for years and have done well by his forecasts.

Interestingly, I was reading the US Natal Chart during the eclipse; both the Sun (President) and Mercury(the planner) will be in the 12th house (Karma). Rather ominous. Let’s hope their choices are ethical… hummm.

I tend to think of the Belgian abuse scandal as another Pluto in Capricorn event, with large institutions being torn down and reinvented.
The world is changing and certainly at a fast clip now that Uranus is in Aries for a short stint.
    Great discussion.

    Hi There,
Have a look at how this is playing out for Toronto, Canada (Established Tues July 30 1793 10:13am), hosting the G20 Summit. The Moon, Pluto, the Sun, Saturn, Uranus, and Jupiter all line up on the Cross of Matter.
So far protests have been mostly peaceful, but Saturday night is one of the main protest event, with maximum police presence anticipated.
We also had a 5.5 earthquake in Ontario yesterday – not huge by most standards, but we don’t get much activity like that in Toronto (last was 1990, 5.0). Pluto is rumbling preparing for that eclipse at the base of the cross…

  3. Phil, Ray has a great site there, very professional and it is an example to astrologers on how to promote astrology as a serious study. He was spot on with his prediction for this current week. Sun squaring Uranus did results in devastating flooding, plus a drop in the markets. I do sometimes dabble in financila astrology, but it is not my speciality and it’s best I leave it to the experts like Ray.

We really are gearing up now these eclipses are approaching, Jupiter square Pluto, Saturn opposite Uranus in the next few weeks. I leave for London in just over a week and am starting to get a bit scattered in the brain, so much I want to investigate with astrology, but so much “normal” life things to organize.

  4. Laurel, will check out that chart, I put it my software. Very interesting with the opening of the summit coinciding with the eclipse.
